CECA and UKCG

09 January 2009

CECA and the UKCG have agreed to work together on a number of industry issues. These include:

  • Working with and advising the newly formed CBI Construction Council, which will be spearheading the
    construction industry’s contribution to the wider business agenda;
  • Supporting the Construction Industry Joint Council (CIJC) which delivers the industry working rule
    agreement;
  • Sponsoring a construction industry Environmental Forum; and
  • Promoting health and safety in construction.

Additionally, CECA and the UKCG are positively exploring other areas in which the two organisations can work together and avoid any duplication of effort.

Speaking about the agreement, James Wates, Chairman of the UKCG said: “CECA and UKCG have some common members and aspirations. It makes sense for them to work together to avoid duplication and to achieve maximum value for their members. I see this relationship deepening as the CBI Construction Council and UKCG develop their agendas in 2009”.

Speaking for CECA, Peter Andrews said: “This is an exciting opportunity to work with the new UKCG. This can only be a positive step at a time when the industry needs to speak with a united voice.

“CECA has an established and respected reputation as a effective advocate on behalf of civil engineering contractors of all sizes across Great Britain. This is an uncertain time for the construction industry as a whole and we need to build alliances to tackle the challenges in the economy and the wider public policy debate, in 2009 and beyond.”
